Travel Information

Getting There

Two great ways to fly into San Miguel de Allende — here’s everything you need to plan your trip.

Best Option

Santiago de Querétaro (QRO)

~1 hour by car (≈ 100 km / 62 mi)

Queretaro International Airport (QRO) is the closest airport to San Miguel de Allende and the most recommended option.
Direct flights available from several US cities including Los Angeles, Houston, and Dallas.

Airlines: Aeromexico, American Airlines, Volaris, United

Getting to San Miguel:

Private Car / Shuttle

Most comfortable option. Pre-book a driver and they’ll meet you at arrivals. ~$90–120 USD one-way. We’ll share our recommended drivers closer to the date.

Uber

Uber operates at QRO and works well to San Miguel. Expect ~$70–90 USD. Easiest option.

Bus (Primera Plus / ETN)

Take a taxi from QRO to Querétaro Central Bus Station (~25 min), then a direct bus to San Miguel (~1 hr). Comfortable and budget-friendly (~$20 USD total).

Second Option

León / Guanajuato (BJX)

~1.5 hours by car (≈ 150 km / 93 mi)

A solid alternative with good international connections, especially via Mexico City.
Slightly farther from San Miguel but often offers more flight options and competitive fares.

Airlines: Aeromexico, Volaris, VivaAerobus, American Airlines, United

Getting to San Miguel:

Private Car / Shuttle

Door-to-door service from BJX to your hotel. ~$80–110 USD one-way. The most relaxed option after a long flight.

Uber

Uber is available at BJX. Trip runs ~$70–90 USD to San Miguel. Easiest option.

BajioGo Shuttle

Popular shared shuttle service running directly between BJX and San Miguel. ~$35–45 USD per person. Book online in advance.

Getting to San Miguel de Allende is part of the experience. Whether you’re traveling from Guadalajara, Mexico City, or connecting from another destination, there are easy ways to make your way there.

Tip: book your flights early — fares to QRO and BJX rise as the wedding weekend approaches.

Culture

You don’t need the perfect itinerary. The best way to experience San Miguel is simply to start walking and see where the city takes you.

Where to eat?

If there’s one rule for visiting San Miguel, it’s this: come hungry. You’re on vacation, after all. Calories don’t count the same… right?

Drink, party, repeat!

When the sun goes down, San Miguel shifts gears. Sunset first. Cocktails second. We’ll see what happens next.
